Cushions
The comfortable cushions are made of a water- and dirt-repellent Olefin fabric. The seams are sealed, and the cushions have zippers so you can wash the covers.
Teak
Teak is a hardwood native to Asia with exceptionally durable qualities. This solid wood is naturally somewhat oily, making it surprisingly soft to the touch and requiring little maintenance.
Teak can be recognized by its coarse grain and often multiple knots.
Teak is a strong wood and therefore suitable for intensive residential use. However, be aware that untreated teak is susceptible to stains and rings if not maintained properly. So, if a glass of water spills on one of your teak furniture, it's important to take immediate action and soak up the water with a clean, dry tea towel.
APPEARANCE AND FEATURES OF TEAK WOOD
The teak wood we use is so-called plantation teak, or sustainable teak.
All our furniture is FSC certified. The forests in Southeast Asia, Central Africa, and the Amazon are among the most valuable, yet also most endangered, ecosystems. Choosing tropical FSC wood helps prevent deforestation in these areas. FSC certification gives the forest status and economic value. The forest remains protected from deforestation and conversion to other uses such as large-scale agriculture, mining, or infrastructure. FSC forest management prohibits this. Forest remains forest. Thanks to this FSC certification, we know the entire history of the wood we use for your furniture: from plantation, sawmill, shipping company, to the furniture maker.
- The teak we use comes from Indonesia or South America.
- Teak wood is very hard and is a solid wood type
- Teak has a coarse grain that makes the wood authentic
- After the trees are felled, the wood is placed in drying kilns . Drying too quickly is a no-no, as the wood will lose its beautiful golden brown hue. Moisture content is also monitored. Carefully dried teak does not warp and is extremely stable.
- Color differences: Teak is a natural product. The color of the wood is determined by various factors such as the origin of the seeds, the soil composition, the growth rate, etc.
- Our teak furniture is manufactured for us in Asia. Humidity in Asia is very high. This can cause shrinkage cracks or fissures to develop once it arrives in the Netherlands. This is one of the characteristics of wood and is therefore not considered a defect.
- We usually let the teak bleach in the sun to get a beautiful light color that is currently popular in the Netherlands.
- We almost always supply the furniture untreated, so you can decide for yourself what look your furniture will have.
- Teak wood weathers, a natural process when left outdoors. If you don't like this and want to retain the brown color, BEACH7 offers a special light oil with a UV protector or a teak sealer.
